Kenmare is nestled in south West Kerry and has probably one of the most spectacular golf courses to be found anywhere in the country (perhaps even the world) namely the Ring of Kerry Golf ClubThe Ring of Kerry course opened in July 1998 in a fabulous setting overlooking Kenmare bay with the Caha Mountains to one side. The fairways are sand based, providing excellent drainage and the good prospect of year round play.  The greens are highly contoured and landing areas tend to be tight.  In a country of great golf courses with astounding scenery this ranks amongst the very best.

The course itself was designed by Eddie Hackett who was born in Dublin in 1910, and whilst still a teenager he became a club maker at the Royal Dublin Golf Club.

The second beautiful golf course in our immediate vicinity is the Kenmare Golf Club which first opened in 1903 as a 9 hole course.  The course was later re-designed by the legendary Eddie Hackett and opened in 1993 as an 18 hole championship course. The unusual clubhouse originally a hunting lodge in India has retained some of its interesting features and charms.

The course itself for the outward section (the original 9 holes), follows the banks of the Roughty estuary and has some very interesting holes with spectacular views of the surrounding Macgillicuddy Reeks & Caha mountain ranges. The back 9 holes (Hackett's re-design), offer more rugged terrain as the holes follow the natural contours of the land which lend to offer golfers of all ability a fair but tactically challenging game.

The Par 71 course covers a total of 5615 yds throughout its 18 splendid holes and is meticulously maintained all year round ensuring the best possible conditions no matter what the season.

Professional Tuition (by prior arrangement) club & trolley hire are all available at the club.

We have a wealth of other Golf courses all within very easy reach of us, you will NEVER be short of somewhere to go and play when you visit SheenView /Kenmare just look at the map below for some idea's.
